Shadow Rockabilly Pro Upright Bass Pickup & Preamp

The Shadow RB-Pro (Rockabilly Pro) system consists of two pickups and a double bass preamp that has been specially designed together with the tremendous German double bassist Didi Beck to achieve the best amplified slap sound on the double bass in the most effective way possible. Logically, it also sounds perfect for many other styles.

A piezo pickup is mounted on the bridge and picks up the "normal" sound of the instrument. A second contact pad is glued with double-sided adhesive to the back of the fingerboard and perfectly picks up the "slap" when playing.

The 2-channel preamp is actually very well designed as it allows both pickups to be mixed at will.

The channel for the piezo pickup includes 3 bands of EQ, a Subsonic Filter to avoid the most conflicting frequencies as well as a Pre.EQ that delivers a round sound.

The contact pickup channel has a High Pass Filter to be able to choose whether we want it to pick up only the highest frequencies or also some slightly lower ones, as well as a Treble control and a 4kHz/8kHz treble frequency selector. We also have a Phase switch to change the phase of the signal if necessary. Each channel has its Input Gain and Output Volume control. A handy built-in chromatic tuner mutes the output so you can tune without a problem.

As for the outputs, there is a so-called Mix that logically takes the signal from the two pickups to your amplifier or to the mixing console. However, if you prefer to separate the output of each pickup you can also do so since there is a second output so you can do the same. The preamp is powered by a 9 Volt battery.

The entire preamp is housed in the tailpiece of the double bass with the included accessory and the battery goes on the back in a special compartment with Velcro, so changing the battery is really quick.

Note: when you are not using the instrument, disconnect the cable so that the preamp battery does not consume
